Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to install anything on my server?
For SSH, no — SharkTTY works with any standard sshd. For Mosh acceleration,
the server needs mosh-server installed (most Linux distros offer
a mosh package). You can also set its absolute path per host in Settings.
Will my session survive when I lock the phone or switch apps?
iOS suspends apps in the background, so the live link pauses. SharkTTY restores
your last screen instantly and reconnects on demand. For sessions that must keep
running server-side, attach a startup script such as
tmux new -A -s mobile so reconnecting reattaches the same session.
Where are my keys and passwords stored?
In the iOS Keychain on your device. Private keys never leave your device except, if you enable iCloud sync, through Apple's encrypted iCloud Keychain across your own devices. We never receive them.
A host key warning appeared — what should I do?
SharkTTY pins each server's host key on first connect (TOFU). A mismatch means the server's identity changed — possibly a reinstall, or possibly a man-in-the-middle. Only trust the new key if you're certain the change is legitimate.
Which key types and connections are supported?
Generate or import Ed25519, ECDSA, and RSA keys, or use password auth. Connect over plain SSH or Mosh. A built-in file manager supports iCloud Drive, shared folders, and WebDAV.
How do I restore my tips or subscription?
Tips are optional and never gate features. To restore a subscription, open the tip screen and tap "Restore purchases" while signed in with the same Apple ID. Subscriptions can be managed or cancelled anytime in iOS Settings.
