Getting started
You can browse templates without an account, but generating images, publishing templates and buying points all require one. Setting it up is quick.
Get Kaka Camera from the App Store for iPhone and iPad, or from your Android store. The app works on phones and tablets, in portrait orientation.
Register with your email address and a password of at least eight characters. The app sends a verification code to your inbox — enter it to activate the account. During registration you confirm your age and pick your preferred language, which decides which language templates and results are shown in.
The home stream shows prompt templates in a scrolling, two-column waterfall. You can open any template, read its prompt and inspect its cost without signing in — and the recharge screen is visible too, so you can see what points cost before deciding anything. Keep an eye on the registration promotions shown on the sign-in screen.

Almost everything in Kaka Camera starts from a prompt template. Here is the complete path from the stream to a finished image.
Models & quality
Every generation offers a choice of quality levels. Since version 1.6 the selector names the actual provider and model behind each option — no guessing what you are paying for.
The cheapest level — a fraction of the standard cost. Use it while you are still shaping the prompt, when composition matters more than finish.
The baseline level, and the reference for pricing: draft costs a fifth of it, HD costs double. The right default for most images.
Maximum detail at twice the standard cost. Worth it when the image is final: a print, a cover, anything you will look at closely.
Quality levels are delivered by the server and grouped by provider — Gemini, OpenAI, Claude and others — and each card in the selector shows the underlying model name along with the price. Which levels a template offers can vary, because they come from the service rather than being hard-coded into the app.
Whatever you pick, the full cost — base cost plus the template author's copyright fee — is always displayed before the points leave your wallet.
Prompt templates & marketplace
Every template in the stream was made by someone. When yours start getting used, the points flow the other way.
Templates are written so the prompt sent to the AI is precise English, while the tags you edit are labelled in your own language. You get the quality of a hand-tuned prompt without writing one. Search works across languages, and the sort filter surfaces what is new, popular or on promotion.
Create a template from scratch in the editor — draft mode lets you save work in progress — or publish a completed task directly: the app turns its prompt into a new template. Either way, you set a copyright fee that other users pay on top of the base cost every time they generate with your work.
Camera & AI photo effects
The camera button in the middle of the tab bar opens a full camera — long-press it to jump straight to your photo library. Any photo you take or pick can go into the editor, where AI effects turn it into a prompt-driven transformation.
Rewind a photo to another era, with period and look parameters you tune yourself.
Move your subject to a different place in the world — or out of it — while keeping the person.
Studio-style portrait treatments built from your own shot.
Push a photo through artistic styles with controls for how far the transformation goes.
Each effect has its own parameter panel, and your choices are assembled into a prompt behind the scenes — so an effect run behaves like any other generation: quality levels, version chains and sharing all work the same way.
Workflows
Some templates are workflows: a small pipeline of steps, in the spirit of ComfyUI, where a text step can draft a description and an image step renders it. You fill in the variables; the steps run in order, with independent ones in parallel.
Version chains
Every task in Kaka Camera can be the starting point of the next one. From any task, create a new version: it keeps the template and joins the same chain as version 2, 3, 4, and you only change what needs changing — the prompt, the reference images, the quality.
The chain is your edit history. You can walk back through earlier versions, compare results, and branch again from the one that was closest. Each new version is a real task with its own cost, shown before you confirm — no surprise charges for iterating.
Toolbox
The Toolbox tab holds three utilities that work on any photo on your device — they cost no points and need no prompt.
Scale an image to exact pixel dimensions for avatars, headers and uploads with size limits.
Combine up to nine photos into one layout. Drag to reorder, pinch to resize, tap the empty canvas to add more.
Cut one image into a grid of tiles — the classic multi-post grid for social feeds.
Photos taken on recent iPhones in HEIC or HEIF format are converted automatically on the way in, so you do not have to think about formats anywhere in the app.
The Tavern
The Tavern is Kaka Camera's request board. Post a topic describing the image you want and attach a points reward; other users submit their prompt solutions, discuss them in replies, and you approve the ones that work. Approved solutions can be executed on the spot to produce the actual image.
When the topic closes, the reward is distributed to the authors of the approved solutions — split equally, weighted toward the solution you adopt, or divided by hand. You need to be signed in to post.
Points & purchases
Generations, workflow runs and template copyright fees are all paid in points from a single wallet. Top up on the recharge screen with an in-app purchase; packages are listed publicly, so you can compare them before you even sign in.
Your balance, a full points history and your order history are in the app at all times. If a purchase ever fails to credit, the order history is the first place support will ask you to look.
Tips & troubleshooting
Kaka Camera is prepaid: points are deducted when you confirm a task, not when the result arrives. The exact cost is always on the confirmation screen — base cost plus copyright fee — so nothing is charged that you did not see.
Generation happens on the server, so you can leave the screen — the result lands in your task list when it is done. If a task stays in progress unusually long, check your connection and reopen the task to see its status. Workflow steps retry automatically before they fail. When a task does finish but the result is not right, create a new version on the same chain instead of paying for a fresh start.
Yes, for looking around: the template stream, template details and recharge packages are all visible signed out. Generating, publishing, posting in the Tavern and buying points require an account — the app asks you to sign in at the moment you try.
No — some templates are built around a reference image and the app enforces that requirement. Add a photo from your library or take one with the camera button, and you can proceed. HEIC photos are converted automatically.
Share links fall back to a web preview when the app is not installed. If Kaka Camera is installed and a link still opens in the browser, update to the latest version and use the open-in-app option on the preview page.
